PSY 210: Basic Statistics

A three-panel comic. The comic is captioned, ''Did the sun just explode? (It's night, so we're not sure.'' The first panel depicts two stick figures with one standing on each side of a ''neutrino'' detector. The person on the left says, ''This neutrino detector measures whether the sun has gone nova.'' The person on the right adds, ''Then, it rolls two dice. If they both come up six, it lies to us. Otherwise, it tells the truth.'' The person on the left finishes with ''Let's try. Detector! Has the sun gone supernova?'' The neutrino rolls the dice and says, ''Yes.'' The second panel is titled ''Frequentist Statician:.'' It depicts a person on the left of the neutrino who says, ''The probability of this result happening by chance is 1/36=0.027. Since p<0.05, I conclude that the sun has exploded.''
